About Us

Boulby Grange Holiday Cottages is very much a family affair.

Myself and John live in the Grange and my mum Valerie lives in the Farmhouse next door to us.

John and I moved up from Eastbourne in 2013 and haven’t looked back and then my mum (who already lived in Whitby) bought the Farmhouse next door!

My father had a lot of family from Whitby and in fact … my great great great (and probably a few more greats in there) was the last Sea Pilot for Whitby! My grandmother got married at St Mary’s (church at the top of the 199 steps in Whitby). I also went to boarding school in Whitby …St Hildas’s School ….which was at that time a convent! So we have a bit of history!

The smaller cottage (Farmhouse Cottage) was originally for long term let but we decided it would be just perfect for a holiday let with fantastic views and a real cosy feel. We completely renovated it and we think it is just a great little bolt hole to relax.

The bigger cottage one bedroom with the hot tub (Byre Cottage) .. this was a labour of love!  We are Grade 2 listed and also in the North Yorkshire National Parks so you can probably understand it wasn’t an easy task renovating from start to finish.  It was originally a cattle shed and completely derelict. Of course, we had help along the way with professional contractors .. but John worked alongside day and night … very proud moment when it was finished!

Then in 2020 we started work on Grange Barn which again was completely derelict which has now been beautiful built to create a luxury 4 bedroomed barn.  Again John used his numerous skills alongside contractors and on his own to deliver this amazing place … we are extremely proud.
